I’ve been trying all Summer to take a decent picture of the parrots we see during our morning walks. Those suckers are fast! I have no idea where they came from but there’s at least 20 of them. It’s breathtaking to see these amazing streaks of bright green fly across the canals.
I’ve tried a bit of web research but I can’t find any real information about parrots in El Paso. Someone mentioned a while ago that they heard about some pet parrots that escaped and began breeding so that’s a possibility, I guess. I also came across this article in The Sierra Club newsletter. The picture they ran with the little blurb on North American parrots sure did look a lot like our parrots and El Paso does border the Mexican state of Chihuahua so that’s a possibility too.
I haven’t seen them during our morning walks for about a week now. I think they’ve all headed South to their vacation home. One thing is for sure, Jackson and I will be eagerly waiting for their return next season!
Hi, I’m an admin for a group called City Parrots, and we’d love to have this added to the group!
