I’m reading/listening to Heart-Shaped Box by Joe Hill right now. Last week it was revealed that Mr. Joe’s dad is Stephen King himself. I was instantly curious about how King’s son would write and since the book had decent reviews, decided to make it my March Audible book.
Ok, so a bit of background information…I’m a chicken. Always have been. I’m the type of person that when washing her face, will risk soap getting in her eyes to look and make sure nothing is standing behind her. Seriously, I get freaked out all the time. I used to make a mad sprint to the door after turning the light out in the garage…I’ve improved, though…it’s more of a panicked speed walk now.
Sometimes I think I have a “second mind,” constantly see the “what if’s” of the world. I read one too many horror books growing up and now their scenes playback at will as an adult.
Ok, so back to the book…I sit pretty much all day at my sewing desk that looks out toward the backyard. I get the pleasure of watching little birds make nests, baby hummingbirds flying for the first time and seeing the leaves gently fall to the ground. Beautiful, huh? No.
The desk position also, unfortunately, makes me sit with my back to the door and anyone who’s ever seen Dune knows…you never sit with your back to the door!
Listening to Heart-Shaped Box is seriously hindering my business…I have to stop ever few minutes or so to make sure there isn’t some nasty old guy with a razor on a string standing behind me.
And the dogs don’t help…they’d probably go up and ask to be pet. Ugh.
One last thing…Happy Birthday to the best little zombie…er, I mean…sister in the world! Love you, Yana Girl!
